Integration types

Choose the integration pattern that best matches the traveller experience you want to build. Display travel content, add live search and availability, complete bookings on your platform, or add capabilities for managing and reporting on existing bookings.

The Demand API supports several integration patterns, ranging from simple content integrations to fully integrated booking and post-booking workflows.

You can start with the capabilities you need and extend your integration as your business requirements evolve.

Compare integration types

The first three integration types define how travellers discover and book travel through your platform. Post-booking management and reporting are additional capabilities that you can add where supported.

Build your integration progressively

You do not need to implement every capability from the start.

For the booking journey, you can choose the level of integration that matches the experience you want to provide:

  • Content only— Display travel content and direct travellers to Booking.com to continue their journey.
  • Search, look and redirect — Add live search and availability while Booking.com handles the booking.
  • Search, look and book — Keep the traveller on your platform throughout the search and booking journey.

You can also add capabilities for post-booking management and reporting and reconciliation where they are supported.

The Demand API follows consistent design principles across travel services, helping you extend your integration with additional capabilities as your requirements evolve.

Content only

Which integration should you choose?

Choose an integration based on the experience or capability you need:

If you want to...Recommended integration
Display travel content on your platform.Content only
Let travellers search on your platform before completing their booking on Booking.com.Search, look and redirect
Let travellers to search and book without leaving your platform.Search, look and book
Retrieve or update confirmed bookings.Add Post-booking management.
Build reporting, reconciliation or finance workflows.Add Reporting and reconciliation.

Post-booking management and reporting can complement your booking integration and do not need to be treated as separate booking journeys.
